The 1st edition of CuriousBeans

On July 31st 2023, something incredible happened. CuriousBean hosted its very first event under the name of Creative Musers. Imagine a place filled with excitement, where inspiring people and curious minds come together. It all began with Yase, the event's organizer, welcoming everyone. Then came the real magic – the stories from our fantastic speakers: Gyati T.M. Ampi, Karry Padu, Michi Dusu Yama, and Yase herself. These speakers, each from a different field, had one thing in common – they followed their passions and turned them into something amazing.

Ampi is the author of the book ‘Will Spring Bloom Again?’ She also leads the English Department of Sant Claret College, Ziro as the Head of the English Department. She started off her presentation by reading a lovely autobiographical poem called “Undying Dreams” describing the evolution of her career. Her journey into the world of writing began back in 2008 when she was just a student at VKV Chimpu. One of her teachers recognizing that she had an affinity for words encouraged her to write poems. She knew nothing about poetry back then, nevertheless, she decided to give it a try and started writing. As she kept writing, over time her skills improved and her poetry became better and better. Eventually, it led her to publish her own book and then, a second book in 2018. Currently, she’s working on two big projects, a novel and a collection of short stories & poetries that she hopes to publish soon.

Karry, Founder & Director of The Wildflower Productions joined the event journeying overnight all the way from Aalo. She is a driven individual, self-funding her passion project - The Wildflower Productions. She freelances, offering her film-making skills to create commercial ads and runs a homestay at Aalo - ‘Together Homestay’. Her career in the film-making world started off as an Assitant cameraman, gradually advancing into the role of Assistant Director as she honed herself in the art of film production. She shared about her personal struggle of not fitting in with the norms and talked about her journey to finding her own identity. She also nurtures an interest in writing poetry. At present, she’s actively shooting a film with her team at Aalo.

Yama is a CFX artist who has worked with big banner names like Black Adam. She’s based in Bengaluru and works as a Character/Creature Technical Director within DNEG, a London-based animation & post-production company. She grew up in Jirdin and spent 2 years at Sikkim while finishing high school. She did a B.Sc. in Animation and Film-making, followed by a PG diploma in Visual Effects. She loves drawing sketches and doodling, she is actually pretty good at drawing sketches. Yama shared her journey to becoming an Animation artist and what it takes to get there. Her love for art is what drew her into the world of animation. She is a headstrong person who determinedly pursued her goal until she achieved it. Currently, she’s working on several major projects within her company that hopefully we will get to see soon.

Finally, Yase, our event organizer is a Product Designer by profession. She graduated from NIT Yupia in 2018 with a  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering. She shared her experience in navigating her path to finding the right career. She faced many obstacles and rejections on the way. But, instead of getting discouraged, she used those failures as a learning source to improve herself. Her passion for design is contagious and thought-provoking. She introduced the audience to the concept of design, its significance, and why it matters. She has a deep understanding of design concepts that we common people take for granted. Currently, she’s based in Chennai working with Rocketlane and she loves being a Product Designer!
